Getting your pipes ready for a south Georgia freeze
Freezing nights do happen here. NOAA's 30-year climate averages show about 21 nights a year at or below freezing at the Fort Stewart weather station, about 30 near Glennville and...

Glennville's city water comes from three deep wells in the Upper Floridan Aquifer, all inside the city, according to the city's 2025 water quality report. The city provides sewer service, too.
Two things in the city's own service application are worth knowing. The city is not responsible for water damage from leaks past the water meter: the plumbing on your side is yours to keep up. And turning the city meter off yourself counts as tampering, with a $100 fee. So it pays to know where your home's own shutoff valve is before you need it.
Glennville's service line inventory, filed with Georgia EPD, lists no lead service lines, but it puts many customer-side service lines, the pipe from the meter to the house, in a federal lead-rule category called galvanized requiring replacement. You can look up your own address on the state's public dashboard, and the city can tell you what that means for your line.
The City of Glennville's plumbing permit application, for new construction or repair, asks for the plumbing contractor's state license number. Lee and Jerrod are both licensed master plumbers.
A NOAA weather station just outside Glennville averages about 30 nights a year at or below freezing, mostly December through February, so outdoor spigots and exposed pipes are worth covering before a cold snap. Here is how.

Not in Glennville. The city counts that as tampering, with a $100 fee. Use your home's own shutoff valve, and find it before you need it.
Glennville's inventory covers the line from the meter to your house, not the pipes inside, and you can look up your address on the state dashboard. If the galvanized pipe inside your house is past patching, we do complete home repiping.
And the counties around them. If you are not sure we come out your way, call and ask.
